He should give the things he doesn't like another chance...! Together. For Earth.

Serious question: Does anyone in the world actually like E.T.?

The actual movie is fine, though the story is pretty non-inspiring. Although, if anyone actually likes E.T. himself, they are probably Satan worshipers and also rape puppies.

I feel about the movie the same way I feel about the Gameboy Advance game. Go ahead, try and figure out what I mean. I DARE you.

Having now seen The Day the Earth Stood Still all the way through as an adult, I'm softening my view on the remake considerably. I've had some time to give it some serious thought, and I have concluded that no matter how bad the Keanu version is, there is no way it's worse than the original.

I absolutely refuse to beleive otherwise. The Day the Earth Stood Still surely isn't the greatest movie ever or anything, but it did what sci-fi movies of the time did and adequately. If you think the Keanu version's stupid changed messaged (even if you think the original's was dumb, it is science fact the remake's is worse), complete lack of any vehicle to move the plot forwards other than coincidence and stupid added human drama for no reason is somehow better than the original you must have no respect for cinema at all. I can respect you disliking or even downright hating the original (though that raises questions about OTHER era movies you like), but saying it's worse than the remake is downright wrong.

I'm softening my view of the remake because I feel that it is innocent of the crime of ruining the intent of the original. (I regret not saying that before pulling out my egg beater) It's still very bad, but it and the original are very much the same: Movies typical of their time being dull and preachy on a dated topic with dumb characters and a spaceship powered by cognitive dissonance.
I don't think the Keanu version is better, I just think they're both on the same level of meritlessness and the question of which is superior isn't worth asking.

You said my dislike of this movie raises questions. I would be very interested in exploring those questions.

Has anyone ever seen The Triplets of Belleville? Cause I'm requesting it if we haven't shown it yet.

I've seen it three or four times. I absolutely love it, think it's a masterpiece.
You will all hate it.
