I bet the 3 of you who like Pokemon here already know Ruby and Sapphire are getting remakes. That is old news. The thing I feel the need to talk about here is that since this is the gen that is closest to my heart, the one that brought me back into my Pokemon addiction with warm, inviting hugs and shiny new sprites... that I just need to talk about it all or I'd explode. I don't know how many of you will care to discuss it, but here we go anyway! Looks like, as anyone with a functioning brain could've predicted, the starters are getting Mega evolutions. Blaziken already had one, so nobody gives a Blazishit about that. However, check out Sceptile and Swampert's megas... I'll talk about Sceptile first, since he's not my precious. I think he's lookin' pretty sharp, though it wasn't until this Mega evolution that I noticed Sceptile has always had jaundiced testicles on his back. This raises some questions I never wanted to ask myself about Sceptile and his reproductive cycle. I mean, I can't think of a single reason for those existing other than for seed spreading purposes. Can you? No. Gee, thank you, Pokemon. Other information, just in case you guys care: His mega will turn him into dragon/grass type, and he can have the chance of getting the "lightning rod" ability. I don't feel like looking that one up, so you guys who actually pay attention to that stuff can help clue me in on if it's even useful. On to Swampert... My Stalwart Swampert... What black market steroids have you injected yourself with now? I really wanted more of a stealthy sleek look for you, but I guess you just always were more on the bulky tank side. I think the more I look at this mega design, the more I'm ok with it... Even if he does kind of remind me of a Mirelurk. Also, Swampert now will be able to have the "swift swim" ability, which I am happy about because speed is real neat, you guys. I bet even less of you will care about this little nitpick I have here, but oh well. I just really have to say I love the changes they made to Brendan/Ruby~. I'm very glad they went with the Emerald looks more than the Ruby/Sapphire versions, and I am even MORE grateful they got rid of his stupid shorts over pants look: They made him look a lot more sporty, and I like that look for a Pokemon trainer. However, this just confirms the idea I didn't like much... That the white on his head is a hat, and not two-toned hair. You can see how from that original Emerald art, it could be seen as hair more than a hat... But I guess I've just always been wrong. Probably because I'm a female, you know how it goes. I will mourn this idea, and finally put it to rest. As for May/Sapphire... I just... Meh. Frills, bows... Meh. Meh. I guess they wanted to give her the idiotic double pants look. Just doesn't make sense to me. At least when she bends over she's not going to be just barely covering her buttcheeks, unlike some other underage trainers we know. >;/ --- Despite my apparent interest in all of this dumb stuff, I still am unsure if I'm going to be purchasing Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. I feel they will have to include a really unique feature in order to cement this for me, but... That is just me. What do you guys think about all of this? The Mega designs, the looks, the updated graphics... Or do you just not give a crap? LET ME KNOW!

Generation 3 is my favorite for Pokemon. I just enjoyed that game so much, but I don't think I'd ever go back to it. I know all the twists and turns and that takes the fun out of a game based around adventure. Having said that, even if they changed the layout of Hoenn, I don't feel the need to go back ever. Pokemon died for me after Hoenn. I tried Black, but that just let me know that I had finally grown completely apathetic to the franchise. Maybe if they do something different, I'll be more excited. But until then, it's back to not giving a shit. The only thing this means for me now is that it is more likely that we will see a gen 3 Pokemon playable in Smash! Are you happy that I'm already derailing your thread? Seeing as how I'm making an arbitrary limitation on 1 starter of the water, fire, and grass varieties, Sceptile is ripe for the picking. Even if Blaziken is more popular, I'm not sure how it could be any different than Greninja or Captain Falcon. Despite all of that, having another Pokemon doesn't bother me nor does it make me excited. Honestly, at this point I just want Mewtwo back.

I really don't understand how Mega Evolutions work? Does Sceptile, like, grows leaves because it's part tree? I don't remember much about Pokemon anymore. And...good God Almighty, what are those things on the trainer's heads? Are...are those eyes? Is that how Sugimori draws eyes now? Do you see them? I don't mean merely look at them, but can you look into them? You can't, can you? Because you can see how glazed over they are. They have no soul. Those are the eyes of the dead.To be honest, I guess I really don't care much about Pokemon. I tried Pokemon X for a few minutes one day and I noticed that Game Freak never really invested into employees who could make a really good 3D engine. That seemed to be hinted at when I saw those lovely 3D models in Black and White, but I figured they'd fix that situation with the 3DS, but apparently not. I think those worlds look terrible. And they couldn't manage to have them viewed in 3D? Sure, the battles looked fine, but the frame-rate dropped like a rock when you turned on the 3D (which was the only time 3D worked, if I recall.) I'm sure the gameplay itself was sound, but I certainly wasn't interested in a 3D modeled Pokemon game if they couldn't manage to get the first part down. But I did seriously play Pokemon exactly once in my life, and that game just happened to be Sapphire. And I'll be honest, I loved every second of it. So when I heard of the remake, I did get a bit intrigued. But then I remembered how I stopped playing. It's kind of the same way I seem to play every RPG. I love it, then for whatever reason, I put it down for like a day or two, and then I never touch the games again. I don't know why. That's what happened with Sapphire when I put it down to clock in my 1000th hour with Mario 3. A similar thing happened when I played Final Fantasy IV. I guess more traditional RPGs don't really entertain me enough to me to keep playing them? A shame, because those games were fun. I'm not entirely sure why I can't keep myself invested. But you know what I am invested in? Smash. Sakurai did show that Whale Pokemon as an assist during the Smash Bros. Direct, so who knows? Maybe we'll get a new Pokemon stage? I mean, the 3DS got one based on X and Y I think, so perhaps the Wii U will get a new one too! And Lucario's Mega Evolution looks hype as fuck! And Charizard gets Mega Evolved with his Final Smash. I wonder if that's what happens with Lucario for his Final Smash? Maybe Mewtwo will come back and have a Mega Evolution! I hope King Dedede has a Mega Evolution too, he's my favorite Pokemon....

Being that I came to the party in Gen 4, it's unfortunate that I missed out on R/S/E. I've gotten access to a cartridge, but when you can't trade with it, it feels like it doesn't count) It has taken far too long for them to make a remake of this, and I can't believe we've had two new generations before they bothered to rejuvenate Hoenn for the new handheld systems. Oh well, better late than never. I only got up to the 6th? 7th? Gym in Emerald. I tried as hard as I could, but I could never get through that game. I'm trying to remember my mindset: It's too old and I want something new and shiny and 'omg I fooking can't stand this team any longer I want my Piplup right meow!' Why can't I run inside whyyyyy? Don't get me wrong, Hoenn has some of my favorite typings of pokemon (Metagross, Sableye, Shiftry, and Breloom) But overall as a group, they are my least favorite. The hell is up with all this water and crap? I felt forced into picking grass and electric types for my survival and idunwanna. I am really hoping that with a shiny new appearance, updated music and hopefully some more gens floating around I'll be more inclined to play. Also CONTESTS. I loved contests in Platinum, and since that was my first game to play, I was thinking this was a normal thing. I was very sad when it wasn't included in any other games (except Emerald). I like to collect all them ribbons, and dressing up pokemon is the way things should be all the time. Secret hideouts too. My base is pretty bitchin, y'all. Random gripe, why can't the girl trainers have normal hair? I get it's a remake, but geez. May's hair is horrid. Dawn, Hilda and Serena were the only ones with decent hair. If they let us change the appearance like in X/Y I'll be happy. Let's dress up our pokemon and ourselves. Cause being the very best there ever was isn't really possible unless you look absolutely fabulous. At least when she bends over she's not going to be just barely covering her buttcheeks, unlike some other underage trainers we know. >;/ My closeted inner lesbian secretly loved dat ass tho. TL;DR I'll likely get it, cause I always do.

I really don't understand how Mega Evolutions work? Does Sceptile, like, grows leaves because it's part tree? I don't remember much about Pokemon anymore. If you remember anything about Pokemon, it's that they don't make any sense and that the designs seem to drop in quality as the generations go on. I guess more traditional RPGs don't really entertain me enough to me to keep playing them? A shame, because those games were fun. I'm not entirely sure why I can't keep myself invested. I'm the same way. Turn-based combat in that type of style just bugs me a lot. I tried playing Earthbound and I just couldn't do it. The game is quirky and I love it for that, but the combat is tedious. But you know what I am invested in? Smash. Sakurai did show that Whale Pokemon as an assist during the Smash Bros. Direct, so who knows? Kyogre was in Brawl already. So was Groudon. The only evidence I can find for the inclusion of Sceptile in Smash is that he would be in to promote the next game. They did this with Roy in Melee and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do it here. It kind of sucks though because Sceptile is a fucking chump compared to Swampert. Quadrupeds 4lyfe! Also, fuck Charizard! Mega Blastoise is perfect! Why are most starter Pokemon lizards or turles?Maybe we'll get a new Pokemon stage? I mean, the 3DS got one based on X and Y I think, so perhaps the Wii U will get a new one too! Apparently this Cathedral stage is from the Elite Four in X/Y. So there's that. From what we've seen of it in the Direct, It will probably be similar to Fountain of Dreams from Melee where the platforms move and shift around. It seems to be larger than that stage though, which is an improvement in my eyes. (This is my inner Captain Falcon main talking) And Lucario's Mega Evolution looks hype as fuck! And Charizard gets Mega Evolved with his Final Smash. I wonder if that's what happens with Lucario for his Final Smash? Maybe Mewtwo will come back and have a Mega Evolution! I hope King Dedede has a Mega Evolution too, he's my favorite Pokemon....The Mega Evolutions don't look that great, honestly. I like the Final Smashes that have you do a stupidly powerful move and wreck people's shit. Having a powered up version of the character just seems kind of lazy to me. At least Giga Boswer grew in size and his damage was buffed to obnoxious levels and Wario Man moved stupidly fast and could fly by clapping. These new ones just look like they hit harder and it ends there. Can't really get excited about those. Greninja's, however, looks awfully close to another ninja's super from another fighting game I like. Not necessarily a bad thing since it looks neat-o! If they let us change the appearance like in X/Y I'll be happy. I thought that was a thing prior to X/Y. I'm baffled it took that long.

I tried playing Earthbound and I just couldn't do it. The game is quirky and I love it for that, but the combat is tedious. It really is. Earthbound is no better than any mid-80's Punishment RPG like Dragon Warrior in terms of gameplay. Despite that, I have played through it 2.3 times. The story, characters and visuals/music make up for everything. Have you ever played Super Mario RPG?

Why is Earthbound so disgustingly expensive then?

Because it's hip. All the cool kids have it.

I'm not cool nor ever will be because I refuse to pay over 300 dollars for a 20+ year old game.

Have you ever played Super Mario RPG? I have not. I'd be willing to try it if I readily had it. For whatever reason, I get a headache whenever I play emulated games that are graphically more intensive than NES. Not sure why either. If Nintendo put it out on the eshop for Wii U, I'd be down to try it.

There are things you can do to make emulated SNES games look better. Emulators generally have built-in video filters and settings for scan lines and stuff that make the picture far closer to what it's supposed to look like. I use Snes9x, and with only the stock video settings I am able to have the image look pretty darn decent running full screen on a 42" HDTV.

This changes everything.

You know he's evolved because he is holding a gem. So inspired~. Although, I suppose it's just as "inspired" as Diglett becoming an all new Pokemon just because three of them decided to sit next to each other and put on their angry eyes. I guess it is Pokemon tradition to occasionally not change much of anything from the original creature, lol. Oh well, at least Sableye is getting some love <3

wut? I love sableye and this is what they do? Could they not give him eight eyes? Or more appendages? Or make him a TANK? The fook man?

He has a gem shield now, he IS a tank. Also, his mega-evolution will probably not outperform his regular version because no leftovers.

Well yes, tank in that regard, I just want him to be all buff n shit. Cause I like big fat pokemon like snorlax. Leftovers is my go-to item for him. And he's gotta be a prankster. Gotta.

I feel it's worth mentioning that Layton and I have had our Megas come to fruition (though not quite visually.) Now Nintendo just needs to get on the ball with Byron's Mega.
